SBA Jr. Portfolio Manager

Summary:  The SBA Jr. Portfolio Manager is responsible for various servicing action requests, loan modifications, confirming satisfaction of approved credit requirements as well as recognizing and proactively managing ongoing credit risk to ensure compliance and adherence to USDA/SBA SOP and First Bank of the Lake policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 

The ideal candidate must have extensive Government Guaranteed Lending experience. 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of SBA Credit Underwriting or SBA Junior Portfolio Management experience or comparable experience in SBA lending.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or another related field.
  • Knowledge of the USDA/SBA loan structuring, underwriting, and documentation.  
  • Knowledge of loan agreements, assumptions, accounting, loan structuring, and collateral procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent analytical, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software applications (nCino, Fiserv, CAIVRS, LexisNexis, and PayNet).
  • Must work in a team environment and adapt to change.
  • Must comply with all bank policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Must complete all required training suitable to his or her position within the bank. 

 Job Functions:

  • Prepare loan modifications and servicing requests for approval. As needed, obtain and review legal documents to ensure renewals and modifications for accuracy.
  • Coordinate collection and review of financial statements, tax returns, personal financial statements, loan document exceptions, and other required financial reporting as indicated in the client’s business loan agreement.
  • Daily customer interaction through phone calls, emails, and site visits to address routine servicing matters and/or other related issues.
  • Perform site visits and annual customer reviews on assigned SBA portfolio.
  • Determine early warning signs of clients at risk and work with them to develop and execute an appropriate plan to mitigate the risk.
  • Works closely with the business development, closing, and underwriting teams throughout the process to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all information.
  • Issue 1099s as necessary on the SBA/USDA portfolio.
  • Work with the bank SBA Senior Management to manage SBA/USDA problem loans and ORE.
  • Assist with special tasks as needed by SBA Senior Management. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. 
  • Travel as required for in-person meetings and/or training.
